San Andreas Pipeline Number 2 Replacement Project in San Bruno

Replacement of four segments in San Bruno

As part of SFPUC’s regular maintenance and inspections of major transmission lines, SFPUC has identi?ed sections of the San Andreas Pipeline Number 2 within the City of San Bruno that are almost 90-years-old and in need of rehabilitation. The replacement project consists of replacing about 6,500 ft. of the 54-inch diameter steel pipeline at four locations. The $32 million contract has been awarded to Ranger Pipelines and began construction in Spring 2019. Construction is anticipated to be completed in Summer 2021.

What to Expect During Construction

Construction activities will primarily consist of ‘open trench’ with ‘trenchless’ installations at major street crossings to the extent feasible due to local site conditions and constraints.

Crystal Springs Road will be temporarily closed for four to six weeks on weekdays to all traffic. Emergency vehicles will have through access at all times.

April 20th to May 29, 2020
