Planning efforts for the South Linden Avenue and Scott Street Grade Separation Project have considered anticipated development projects, including South San Francisco’s Southline Development, and the updated Huntington Avenue intersection. Staff for the respective agencies were in communication with their development and business communities and residents on the project throughout the planning phase and continue to be during the current preliminary engineering/environmental phase.

The City Councils of San Bruno and South San Francisco were provided with updates to the project in January/February 2025 on strategies for reducing costs and construction related impacts. An optimized alternative was introduced that would allow for the tracks to remain at the current grade to avoid costly shooflies and property impacts and would lower the undercrossings.

For Scott Street in San Bruno, the change from the previously selected alternative was not significant and would result in the pedestrian and bicycle undercrossing being lowered by several feet from the prior selected alternative. The impacts identified from the preliminary design for the South Linden Avenue crossing are known by South San Francisco and have been communicated by their staff to their developers and businesses.

More information regarding Scott Street can be found in this staff report from January 2025:
