Redwood City, CA — The San
Mateo County Office of Education has announced a new e-bike toolkit for
schools. The County Office will also host an e-bike safety webinar on
Wednesday, September 3, at 5:30 p.m.
With e-bikes growing in popularity among students, schools need clear strategies to promote safe, responsible riding. The new Online E-Bike Toolkit includes
guidance on laws, educational materials for families, and safety tips
for students. It also features materials that schools can share
directly with parents and students. These include a slide deck for
presentations and information on California e-bike laws and the three
e-bike classifications. Resources are available in both English and
Spanish.
The webinar will be hosted in partnership with The Parent Venture and E-Bike Sense. Sponsored by the California Office of Traffic Safety,
this event is designed for both parents and students to learn about
e-bike laws, safety tips, and responsible riding. In this interactive
workshop, Megan Lamb, founder, and Stephen McCall from E-Bike Sense will
help parents, caregivers, and educators "make sense" of e-bikes to
ensure the safety of youth in our communities. This is a free event,
open to all parents/caregivers, students, educators, and community
members are welcome. Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be
available. Anyone who is interested may register here.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our
kids,” said San Mateo County Superintendent Nancy Magee. “I hope that
educators, families, and community members will take advantage of these
valuable e-bike safety resources.” |
