| As we head into the fall season, we have several resources and programs to support you. Applications
for the next cohort of Youth Climate Ambassadors are closing on
September 1st. Also, remember to take advantage of federal rebates that
will end later this year.

| | Apply to become a Youth Climate Ambassador!
Applications
are currently open for the 2025-2026 Youth Climate Ambassadors Program.
This 8-month program is designed for high school students in San Mateo
County interested in building leadership skills and taking action to
address climate change locally. Throughout the program, students will
attend virtual workshops and three in-person retreats to explore topics
in sustainability and connect with peers from across San Mateo County.
Plus, you’ll get paid a stipend for completing the program!
Applications are due before 11:59 pm on September 1, 2025. |

electric vehicles can save you thousands of dollars up front while
helping lower your monthly energy bills for years to come. |

Many federal incentives have new deadlines and are set to expire soon. EV Credits: Find out which new and used EVs still qualify for federal tax credits of up to $7,500 until September 30, 2025. Residential
Clean Energy Credits: Claim 30% of the total cost of solar panels,
battery storage, and geothermal systems if you buy by December 31, 2025. Energy
Efficient Home Upgrade Credits: Make home energy upgrades, like
insulation, windows, or efficient electric appliances, by December 31,
2025, to claim the credit.

San Mateo County Sustainability Department hosts the YECS program every
year for students across the county to participate in climate science
field trips and learn about sea level rise adaptation, biodiversity
protection, and wildfire mitigation. |

| | | Switch to a Refillable Propane Cylinder this Fall
While
single-use 1 lb. propane cylinders are convenient, they are often
improperly disposed of and pose serious safety risks and environmental
harm, as they can be challenging to recycle properly. Switch to a
reusable propane cylinder, which can easily be refilled at
participating retailers! |
