San Mateo County on Their Budget
Article Source: County of San Mateo - CA
NEWS:
The updated 2026-27 budget maintains funding for County programs and
services, and will come before the Board of Supervisors on September 29.
The proposed budget assumes the state will provide the
full vehicle license fee replacement revenue the County is owed while
local officials work toward a permanent solution to the shortfall.
“We are budgeting for the funding San Mateo County is owed,” said County Executive Mike Callagy.
“We want to continue providing the services our residents rely on, but
using one-time reserves year after year to cover an ongoing state
funding shortfall is simply not sustainable.”
The budget totals roughly $6.2 billion across all County funds and
includes $109.8 million in Measure K funding for previously approved
projects, among them $76.6 million for housing and homelessness
services and $8.2 million for children, families and seniors.
