Recreation and Aquatics Center, 251 City Park Way

Special Meeting, 5:30pm

  • Closed Sessions: Conference with Legal Counsel, worker's compensation claims
  • Closed Session: Conference with Labor Negotiators, all city employee bargaining groups
  • Study Session: We'll receive the results of our 2025 Downtown Pulse Survey,

Regular Meeting, 7:00pm

  • Public Hearing: We'll consider authorizing the developers of the Highlads project at Glenview and San Bruno Avenue to use the BOLD program to help finance the project. This progream lets new developments pay for public infrastructure and required fees by issuing bonds that are repaid over time through special property taxes on the new development, rather than by existing neighbors or general taxes.
  • We'll hold two joint City Council/Planning Commission sessions where we will:
    • Receive an update on our Land Use, Housing and Economic Development Initiative and consider hiring Placeworks assist with this effort.
    • Receive the 2025 Housing Element Annual Update and authorize transmittal to the state. This is a yearly report that we must submit to demonstrate our progress in implementing state‑mandated housing plans as required by state law.

Council Goal Setting, Strategic Initiatives for FY2026-27

Special Meeting this Friday, January 30, 1pm

Recreation and Aquatics Center, 251 City Park Way

On Friday, January 30 at 1pm council and staff will kick off the annual budget process and hold our annual goal setting session, where we will agree on up to five strategic initiatives on which to focus in the upcoming fiscal year that begins July 1. Staff will provide an update to the existing Council-adopted initiatives, review the proposed Budget Principles, hear a City financial forecast, and spend the bulk of the time reviewing the submitted initiatives. The final step will be to have the Council identify its final list of initiatives.

Previous initiatives have included the current Clean Up San Bruno campaign that is reporting great success in preventing illegal dumping in our neighborhoods, the currently underway Downtown Beautification project, and the final design, construction and opening of both Centennial Plaza and Florida Park. This effort is separate from our ongoing Capital Improvement Program which focuses on city infrastructure such as roads, stormwater, etc.

$75,000 ABC Grant Awarded to San Bruno Police Department

From SBPD: The San Bruno Police Department has been awarded $75,000 through the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control’s (ABC) Alcohol Policing Partnership Grant to help reduce alcohol-related harm in our community in collaboration with our regional partners.

This grant will be implemented in partnership with the South San Francisco Police Department and the Pacifica Police Department, allowing our agencies to work together to address alcohol-related issues that impact our cities.

What this means for our communities:

  • Increased enforcement to prevent alcohol sales to minors
  • Addressing service to obviously intoxicated patrons
  • Targeting problem locations linked to alcohol-related crime
  • Coordinated efforts with ABC investigators and neighboring agencies

“This grant allows us to work collaboratively across city lines to protect youth, hold violators accountable, and improve quality of life throughout our region,” said Sgt. Scott Smithmatungol.

We appreciate the continued partnership with ABC, South San Francisco PD, and Pacifica PD as we remain committed to proactive, data-driven enforcement and community safety.
