City Council Meetings, Tuesday, February 24, 2026 |
Recreation and Aquatics Center, 251 City Park Way |
- Closed Session: Conference with Legal Counsel (San Bruno and Walmart LLC vs. California Department of Tax and Fee Administration
- Closed
Session: Conference with Labor Negotiators (Teamsters Local 856, IBT
Police; Teamsters Local 856, Management; and Unrepresented Employees)
- We’ll
receive a FY25-26 Midyear Financial Update. Our budget is meeting
expectations by continuing to rely on our tax sharing agreement with
Walmart to address the structural deficit. We will continue to watch
this closely as both the tax sharing revenue as well as future payments
from the State for our share of vehicle license fees are high risk of being lost.
|
- Under
consent, we’ll vote to approve new three-year contracts with our
miscellaneous and mid-management labor groups. These two groups
represent the vast majority of city employees. We ratified a three-year
contract with Fire at our last meeting on February 10.
- We’ll
hold a study session on creating a new Community Services Commission by
merging the Culture and Arts Commission into the Parks and Recreation
Commission and adding Library Services to the commission’s advisory
role. While I appreciate the efficiencies that can be gained with this
move, I believe this would severely dilute our commissioners' input and
impact on these vital services.
- We’ll
receive and approve the 2026 Technology Assessment report. The report
outlines our needs for improvements in the city’s technology
infrastructure and will inform future projects and budget items for the
coming fiscal year.

Pedestrian Crosswalk Safety Operation |
Thursday, February 26 7am-3pm |
From SBPD: On
Thursday, February 26, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the San Bruno
Police Department Traffic Division will be conducting a Pedestrian
Crosswalk Safety Operation at the intersection of San Bruno Avenue and
Masson Avenue. 🎯 Our goal is simple: prevent someone from getting seriously hurt or killed in a crosswalk. Officers
will be monitoring for drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians.
Education and enforcement will both be part of the operation. We
also know the comments are coming about this being “entrapment” or
pedestrians “jumping out into traffic.” That is not how these
operations work. Pedestrians will be crossing lawfully and safely,
giving drivers ample time and distance to stop — exactly as required by
law. No one is being tricked or forced into violating the law. ⚠️ Safety reminders: |
- Pedestrians have the right-of-way in crosswalks
- Slow down near intersections
- Put the phone down
- If someone is waiting to cross, stop — not roll through, not speed up
|
If you see us out there, just drive like you’re supposed to and you’ll be fine. |

New San Bruno Housing Element Dashboard |
At
our meeting on January 27, staff provided the council and planning
commission with an update on our current state obligations to provide
housing, with San Bruno's target set by the state at 3,165 new housing
units by 2031. As part of this update staff unveiled a new online
dashboard that tracks our progress against this goal. The dashboard
includes a map of all proposed housing (both affordable and
market-rate) throughout San Bruno and a listing of the major projects.
Click the button below to view the dashboard, and click here for more information about our Housing Element. |
