Free Event: Victorian Days: August 9, 2025
Victorian
Days at the Old Courthouse takes place Saturday, August 9, 2025, from
10 a.m. until 2 pm at the San Mateo County History Museum, housed
within the Old County Courthouse at 2200 Broadway, Redwood City.
The
Victorian Era was named for Queen Victoria, who reigned in Great
Britain from 1837 to 1901. Discover what life was like in the 1800s
through craft activities, a Victorian Tea and a vintage fashion show.
Admission and craft activities are FREE.
Between
10 a.m. and 2 p.m., kids can create crafts related to a Victorian
afternoon including creating their own hats, fans, pocket watches and
calling cards.
There
will be two Victorian Tea sittings staged in the Museum’s historic
Courtroom A. The Tea will feature served refreshments, historic
reenactors discussing the “Etiquette of the Tea,” and a Victorian
Fashion Show. The Teas will occur at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. While
admission and craft activities are free, the Teas will cost $10 for
adults and $6 for children. The presentations will last about an hour.
At noon there will be a Victorian fashion show without the tea. There will be no charge to attend this presentation.
