On February 8, 2020 at 12:32 p.m., San Bruno Police Officers responded to the report of an attempted robbery on the 1200 block of El Camino Real in San Bruno.

The ensuing investigation revealed that the victim had arranged to meet the suspect in order to sell him a high-end watch.  During their meeting, the victim handed the watch to the suspect so he could look at it, and the suspect attempted to flee with the watch.  The victim grabbed the suspect to stop him and a struggle ensued.  During the struggle, the suspect sprayed the victim in the face with pepper spray, and was able to get away, but dropped the watch during the struggle.  The victim retrieved the watch and the suspect fled the area on foot.

The suspect was described as a light skinned Hispanic or Middle Eastern male in his mid to late twenties, about 5’10” tall with a skinny build.  He had short dark hair, a mustache and a light goatee. He was last seen wearing a white short-sleeve polo-shirt and black pants.

The San Bruno Police Department would like to remind everyone to exercise caution and take safety measures when meeting unknown people to buy or sell items.  The San Bruno Police Department offers its building as a safe internet purchase exchange location with 24 hour video recording and easy access to police for increased safety.
