National Night Out - August
4th 2026
National Night Out is an annual community-building event designed to strengthen relationships between neighbors
and local law enforcement while promoting neighborhood safety and camaraderie.
It is traditionally held on the first Tuesday in August, making August 4, 2026, the official date for nationwide celebrations.
Communities often host block parties, cookouts, safety demonstrations, and other interactive activities from early evening until nightfall,
encouraging residents to meet local officers, share resources, and foster a sense of collective responsibility.
Participating in National Night Out can include simple acts like turning on porch lights, hosting neighborhood gatherings,
or attending community safety events. The goal is to build trust, reduce crime, and strengthen community ties through
positive interactions between residents and public safety personnel.
